About the Teacher

 

Mrs. Katie Bush - Director of Choirs

​

Katie Bush is in her first year as choir director at Lakes Community High School. She previously taught music at Woodland Elementary (2008-2021). Mrs. Bush is a three time nominee for Gurnee Teacher of the Year. She holds a Bachelors degree in music education from Illinois State University (2007), a Special Education Endorsement from Greenville University (2011), and Masters in Music Education from Depaul University (2016). 

 

Mrs. Bush has been a presenter at the Illinois State Music Educators Conference on writing music curriculum for special education students.  Mrs. Bush has been a soprano section member in Cantate Chicago and has performed in numerous musical and opera productions at the Woodstock Opera House and Illinois State University. Mrs. Bush also was a mellophone section leader of the Big Red Marching Machine at ISU.
